How to Contribute :

An important objective of BCYF's work is to increase the quantity and quality of investments in effective programs for children and youth throughout the Balkan region. We are grateful to our existing donors, while encouraging other institutions and individuals to join us in our efforts to create a more positive present—and future—for the region’s young people.

Through funding the work of BCYF, donors benefit from access to programs that have been screened against 17 standards for program effectiveness. These standards include: an emphasis on prevention and early intervention; the involvement of the community, parents, and other significant adults; the program's cost-effectiveness; and its ability to become self-sustaining. Likewise, BCYF monitors and evaluates progress on all grant funds to ensure that objectives are met.

Building Partnerships Among the NGO, Government and Business Communities

Among its activities, BCYF promotes collaboration among businesses, government, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). We believe that through combining the resources and expertise of these three sectors we can achieve far greater results for young people. BCYF itself was created with support from the International Youth Foundation, bilateral donors (including the U.S. Agency for International Development and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), and companies such as UPM- Kymmene.

Focus on Corporate Giving

Increasingly, companies are realizing the benefits of investing in social programs for young people. In an effort to streamline such investments, BCYF has created mechanisms that enable businesses to invest their funds with greater focus, efficiency, and effectiveness. Through a rigorous review process, we have identified NGOs throughout the region that are meeting the urgent needs of today’s children and youth. We can work with companies to develop strategies for branding and marketing their social investments.
